Nau mai, Tomo mai ki Te Kareti o Makere Tapu

St Margaret’s College makes every effort to ensure that people from all cultures feel welcomed and cared for. The College has always been a caring foundation and proudly proclaims its welcome to Tangata Whenua.

Te Huka Mātauraka - Māori Centre

We have links with the Maori Centre and hope that intending Members of College will contact them for more information. They also have some information on scholarships (more).

Te Tumu - School of Māori, Pacific, and Indigenous Studies

Te Tumu, The School of Māori, Pacific, and Indigenous Studies, has close links with the College. Professor Tania Kai’ai, the former Dean, is a Fellow of the College, and Dr Michael Reilly, a Senior Lecturer, was resident for ten years in St Margaret’s College (more).

Te Roopu Māori

Te Roopū Māori, the Māori Students’ Association is also welcome at the College and we invite students to make links with them (more).

Two practical things the College has done to ensure that Māori students feel welcome is to implement a dual signage programme and to introduce a component into Welfare Staff training to make certain that staff are aware of different customs, practices as well as some history.
